What is Provider Pals®?

• Provider Pals® is a cultural exchange program that links urban classrooms, rural classrooms, and the people who get their hands dirty every day - farmers, ranchers, miners, loggers, oil field workers, commercial fishermen, and others who provide the basics of everyday life.

• These diverse cultures join together to teach each other about their very different ways of life and to address the fundamental question “Where does my stuff come from?”

Why Was Provider World Built?

• Provider World was built to help further Provider Pals® mission – build bridges of cultural respect and understanding between our rural youth, urban youth, and natural resource providers.

• It is a tool for participating classrooms and creates an avenue of participation for other interested students, teachers, classrooms, and civic clubs!

What is Provider World?

• Provider Pals® is very excited about the launch of Provider World, our interactive educational virtual world where kids can learn, have fun playing games, interact with other students and cultures, and in general - have a great time! This has been a long time dream of Provider Pals® and has become a reality due to the generous support of CATERPILLAR.

• This online educational gaming site consists of a City Center that is a ‘hub’ for Logging, Mining, Farming, Fishing, and Ranching Worlds. Each one of these worlds reflects various aspects of each ‘real life’ worlds and contains games that challenge students and players to learn more about the jobs and products produced in each environment.

• It is a one of a kind, safe, educational tool that we have no doubt your student or child will enjoy. We will be building new games and locations within the world each year.

What do you have to do?

• You will receive your memberships at the beginning of the school year. All that you need to do is explain what Provider World is and hand out the membership cards to your students. Once they log on, Provider World handles the rest of the registration process!

• Since your students are full on members, Provider World will take care of everything for us/them! Here is what will happen:
  
  
  1. Log onto www.providerpals.com/pworld
  2. Choose to activate their membership card (option is on the right)
  3. Put in their username/password
  4. Create a profile and submit it. (This is where they will have to enter their age. If they are 12 or under, they have to enter their parents e-mail address, also, so that they are aware of the membership. They need to approve their son/daughters profile before their membership is active.)
  5. They will be sent an e-mail that says they successfully activated their membership. There will be a link for them to click on to enter Provider World.
  6. They open the link, sign in, and create their avatar! All of their information will be saved upon each exit. They will not lose points, coins, clothing, etc.
  7. Within 48 hours they will receive another e-mail that says that their profile is active. Until they receive this e-mail, they cannot change their profile. Afterwards, they can change it as much as they want.

  *The reason that it takes 48 hours to approve their profile is because we look over each of their profiles and make sure that it is appropriate. It is just another safety mechanism that we set up. We will approve it a.s.a.p.!

What will your students experience?

• Your student will log on to Provider World, create a profile, and build their Provider World avatar (character).

• They will enter Provider World in the City Center where they will meet and have the capability to safely chat with other students from around the world! They will play educational games and be rewarded by winning coins from which they can buy cool clothing in each of the world stores.

• Since they are sponsored members, their character information, points, and coins will all be saved by Provider World each time they exit. Moderators will be online monitoring the avatar interaction.

• We would recommend going online and seeing what Provider World has to offer your classroom.
