Spring of 2008 Diary Entry
Hello again,
Just when we think we are out of the woods weather-wise, we take another
hit. It was 2:00 this morning and we had a sudden, very ferocious
snow storm blow through, closing several roads in the area and causing
a 20 car pileup just up the road from my home. This was no April
Fool's joke, and thankfully no calves were born that night.
Today the sun is going to shine (hopefully), melt the snow, and warm things
up. Spring in this part of the world is always wonderful with the
new grass and new animals, but it can be a challenge.
I received some exciting news yesterday. I have been invited to
participate in the Wyoming Mustang Challenge. 25
unhandled Wyoming wild horses will be given to 25 Wyoming trainers for
100 days to train and then show at the Wyoming State Fair in August. The
horses will then be sold during an auction at the end of the fair. It
will be a real test of my training skill, and I am looking forward to it.
There is not much else to report, and I need to get busy with my day. I
am going to trim the feet on some of the mares this morning. Then
I will check the cattle and maybe fix some fence (I have two stretches
of fence that need to be repaired before I can turn the horses into that
pasture). So, I better get busy if I want to get those things done
before dark.
See you soon!!
Melissa
